WHERE   WE   ARE

FUTURE SHADE is a soulful electronic duo made up of Jannah Beth and Andrew Meyer, working between Australia and Aotearoa. Their sound occupies the space between euphoria and nostalgia, crafting organic textures that press against electronic architecture, Made for the moment the sun drops below the horizon and the light turns.

Jannah and Andrew met while making Jannah's album, Orbits & Echoes. What happened wasn't planned. A frequency matched, and somewhere in that process a way of working emerged that neither of them had access to alone, slower, more instinctive, more willing to sit in the unresolved. By the time the album was finished, the duo had emerged. FUTURE SHADE is where that alignment lives now.

It's a young project that's moved fast. A capacity room at SXSW London, hosted by BBC Radio 1's CassKidd, who called it main character music - so many scenes of a movie from track to track. A first Sydney show at The Vanguard. A writing trip through the UK and Europe still working its way into what comes next.

The name comes from The Herd's 2011 record of the same name. An idea about planting trees you'll never sit under, making something for a future you won't fully inhabit. It's a philosophy more than a reference point , lineage as creative practice, care as a long game. Building things for people who aren't in the room yet.

They are building shade. It takes time. That's the point.
