WHERE WE ARE
FUTURE SHADE is an Australia/Aotearoa soulful electronic duo made up of Jannah Beth and Andrew Meyer. Their sound occupies the space between euphoria and nostalgia, crafting organic textures that press against electronic architecture. Made with synthesisers, live instrumentation, layered vocals and detailed electronic production.
The duo formed while making Jannah’s solo album Orbits & Echoes. After finishing the record, they kept writing together with no plan for a new project. One of those songs became “Animal”, and FUTURE SHADE followed.
Since launching in 2026, FUTURE SHADE have released “Payphones”, “Skyline” and “Animal”, performed to a capacity room at SXSW London, and been described as “main character music” by BBC Radio 1’s CassKidd. “Skyline” was later called “crazy good” by The Jungle Giants’ Sam Hales in a Rolling Stone Australia live reaction.
The duo have also performed in Sydney and the Blue Mountains, continued writing and developing the project across Australia, Aotearoa, the UK and Europe, and confirmed their first UK support tour in November.
Their debut eight-track project Light/Shade is due in 2027, bringing together the sound, visual identity and live language the duo have been building since the project began.
The name FUTURE SHADE comes from The Herd’s 2011 album of the same name and the idea of planting trees whose shade you may never sit beneath. It reflects a belief in making work for the long term and building something that can extend beyond the people in the room now.
